I grew up watching my mother and grandmother endlessly beading fancy fabrics, quilting blankets, and sewing my school dresses. My work captures the rhythm of those moments, piecing together my personal identity with my diverse cultural/ethnical experiences.  Using canvas, cardboard, wood panel, or silk, I construct paintings adorned with beading, collage, embroidery, and found objects surfacing from past and present influences. I see the yards of canvas flowing out like yards of velvet or cotton on a sewing table. My vision is to eliminating standard structures, and to make art with immediacy, looking beyond borders.
